It also has a history as being a center for British tea culture with the influence of the "father of tea", Alexander Bruce who helped introduce the Assam tea leaf, camellia sinensis assamica, to England. This tea is a medium-sized black with gold tips evidence, has a distinctive pungency that makes it a favorite in black tea blends, and makes a bold, brisk self-drinking tea.
